Ferrari maintenance has a fearsome reputation, and for older cars it's partly deserved. For newer cars the picture is very different, because scheduled maintenance is included for seven years. The real costs come from wear items and from keeping an older car in order once that coverage ends.

The 7-year Genuine Maintenance program

Ferrari includes seven years of scheduled maintenance with its new cars, and it stays with the car when it's sold. According to Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale, it covers oil and filter changes, fluid services, inspections, diagnostic scans, software updates and genuine parts.

It doesn't cover wear items. Tires, brake pads and rotors, and clutches remain the owner's responsibility throughout.

For a seller, remaining coverage is a real asset. A buyer saves the cost of every scheduled service until the program ends, so the end date belongs in your listing.

Older Ferraris cost more to keep

  • Timing belts. The 360 and earlier V8s need periodic belt services. The F430 and later cars use timing chains.
  • F1 gearbox clutches. Single-clutch F1 cars such as the 360 and F430 wear clutches, and buyers ask for a clutch-wear reading.
  • Age-related items. Sticky interior switches, exhaust manifolds and electronics on cars from the 2000s.

How maintenance affects what your Ferrari is worth

Ferrari buyers price a gap in the service record as a risk. An unbroken file of invoices, proof of remaining maintenance coverage and evidence of recent major services all support a higher offer.
