Agera, Regera, Jesko, Zonda, Huayra or Utopia: how hypercar sales work, what buyers check first, and why US road status matters.

Koenigsegg and Pagani build cars in the dozens, not the thousands, and many are specified to their first owner's taste. Selling one works like selling a rare collectible: the buyers are a small, international group, and they care about provenance, factory service and how the car can legally be used.

This guide explains how those sales work and what a buyer will check.

At a glance

Quickest sale
A specialist hypercar dealer or the brand's own dealer network. Expect weeks, not days.
Highest ceiling
A major collector-car auction or a well-connected private sale.
Biggest lever
Provenance, factory service history and specification.
Watch for
Middlemen who want a fee or exclusivity before showing proof of a real buyer.

How buyers look at each model

  • Koenigsegg CCX and Agera family

    2006–2018

The CCX, then the Agera R, S and RS. The 25-car Agera RS set production-car speed records in 2017 and is among the most valuable.

  • Koenigsegg Regera and Jesko

    2016–present

The 80-car Regera hybrid with its direct-drive transmission, and the Jesko, limited to 125 cars in Attack and Absolut forms.

  • Pagani Zonda

    1999–2011

The car that made Pagani's name, plus later one-offs. The Zonda was never certified for general US road use, which affects how it can be owned and driven here.

  • Pagani Huayra

    2012–2022

Pagani's first car certified for US roads, including the Roadster and the lighter BC versions.

  • Pagani Utopia

    2023–present

Limited to 99 coupes, and offered with a manual gearbox. Check your purchase agreement before arranging any resale.

What moves the price

  1. US road statusWhether a car is certified for US roads or was imported under rules like Show or Display changes who can buy it and how they can use it. Have the paperwork ready.
  2. Factory service historyService by the factory or an authorized center, on schedule. Buyers treat gaps as a large unknown cost.
  3. ProvenanceOriginal sales documents, factory correspondence and a clear ownership chain.
  4. SpecificationBespoke paint, exposed carbon, interior details and one-off features. Original specification documents matter.
  5. Mileage and useMost of these cars have very low mileage, so buyers price in upcoming service items.

How to sell a Koenigsegg or Pagani, step by step

  1. Gather the details: VIN, mileage, options, photos of every angle and the interior, and your service records.
  2. Get written offers from two or three buyers who handle Koenigseggs and Paganis. Send each one the same details so the offers are comparable.
  3. Inspection. The buyer confirms the car matches your description, either through a local inspector or a detailed video call.
  4. Agree the final number and paperwork. Get the price, any deductions, the transport arrangements and the payment timing in writing.
  5. Payment, then pickup. Funds (or your loan payoff) are confirmed, then an enclosed transporter collects the car and you sign over the title.

Buyers almost always require an inspection at a factory-authorized center before committing, and transport is enclosed and often international. Have an attorney review any sale agreement.

Selling a Koenigsegg or Pagani with a loan or lease

Most Koenigsegg or Pagani owners who sell still have a loan or lease on the car. That doesn't stop a sale; it adds one step.

  1. Get a payoff quote from your lender or leasing company. Ask for a 10-day payoff figure and the exact payment instructions.
  2. Give it to the buyer. A professional buyer pays your lender directly and sends you whatever is left. That's your equity.
  3. If you owe more than the offer, you pay the difference (negative equity) before the title can transfer.
  4. For a lease, check first whether your leasing company allows a third-party buyout. Some only let the original dealer buy the car.

Keep copies of the payoff confirmation and the lien release. The full loan and lease walkthrough covers the paperwork in more detail.

What to have ready

  • Title, or your lender's details if there is a loan
  • Valid registration and a government-issued photo ID
  • All keys and fobs
  • Service records, organized by date
  • Owner's manuals and books
  • Factory or authorized service records
  • US import, certification or Show or Display documents
  • Original specification, sales and factory documents

Common questions

Who buys used Koenigseggs and Paganis?

International collectors, usually through hypercar specialists, the brands' own dealers, major collector-car auctions or private introductions.

Does US road legality affect value?

It affects who can buy the car and how it can be used in the US. A car certified for US roads has a broader domestic market than one imported for show or display.

How long does a hypercar sale take?

Expect weeks to months, depending on the car, the route you choose, and timing relative to major auctions.

Can I sell a hypercar with a loan on it?

Yes. Specialist buyers and auction houses can pay off a lender as part of the sale. Confirm the payoff process in writing first.
